Why does the most innocent man in the history of innocence not want people to give testimony that would surely prove his innocence?

Trump continuously lies that Dems are doing nothing but investigating him. While they are diligently performing their legislative and oversight functions, Republicans in the Senate seem to only care about protecting Trump at all costs. Also note that these bills passed in the House benefit the average American. Why are Republicans opposed to them?
